confidence in interviews: Welcome to blog number 3!! As I’ve given you some great CV tips in my last blog I thought I
best follow this up with how to prepare for a Job Interview……..
see below for a few top tips for your next interview……
5, DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE THE JOB INTERVIEW
Before your interview, take the time to research the company and the position you’re applying for.
This will help you to understand the company’s mission and values, as well as the job requirements.
Knowing this information will help you to answer questions more confidently and effectively and hopefully help with any of those interview day nerves.
4, PREPARE YOUR ANSWERS
Take some time to think about the questions you may be asked during the interview. Prepare answers to common questions such as “What are your
strengths and weaknesses?” and “Why do you want this job?”
Having a few answers prepared ahead of time will help you to feel more confident and relaxed during the interview.
(An Interview Coaching session with AskVerity can help you to prepare answers to more specific competency-based interview questions also.)
3, WHAT TO WEAR TO A JOB INTERVIEW
Make sure you dress appropriately for the job interview. Choose an outfit that is professional and appropriate for the job you are applying for.
This will help you to make a good impression and show that you are serious about the position……shirt and tie isn’t always necessary nowadays but always shirt and trousers or smart skirt/trousers and a blouse/shirt or a dress.
Ensure nothing is too revealing!!
2, BE POSITIVE DURING THE INTERVIEW
During the interview, focus on the positive aspects of your experience and skills.
Avoid talking negatively about past employers or experiences. Instead, focus on how you can use your skills and experience to benefit the company.
1, FOLLOW UP AFTER THE INTERVIEW
After the interview, make sure to follow up with a thank you note or email.
This will show the interviewer that you are interested in the position and that you appreciate their time.
It is also a great way to stay in touch and keep your name in the interviewer’s mind and give you signs on whether the interview was successful.
